What does it mean to be a member of PPP?
Just knowing that’s there’s other parents out there who have been through similar lived experience’s and having the chance of building new friendships.
What do you like about PPP?
I like it when they have launches of projects like the Hand in Hand Project and I like it when we catch up for coffee mornings and being around other parents who understand.
What skills have PPP helped you develop?
Chairing a meeting, presenting, safe story sharing, in general just developing skills to keep in contact with others. I’m currently developing the skill to try and look at the positive side of things rather than the negative.
What skills do you have as a self advocate?
Knowing my rights and speaking up for myself and others who have gone through similar lived experiences and not being scared to speak up.
What does self advocacy mean to you?
Having more opportunities to speak up and to present and to lobby the government for change.
What do you like about being a parent?
Just knowing I do have a lovely gorgeous child and she is actually still in the family and not in foster care.
What do you like to do in your free time?:
I like to listen to music, story writing, watching dvds, shopping at Op shops and my favourite one is eating out – vegetarian
If you could rule the world, what would it look like?
Everyone with a disability are treated like everyone else. Every place in the whole world being accessible and all information being accessible as well. Everyone treats everybody else with respect, no one is nasty to anyone.
